It’s been awhile, actually 5 years, since the accident that shook my world. I actually can’t believe it’s been 5 years. There are some days where I feel like it’s been forever and some where it’s only been a couple of months. But nonetheless, I continue to hold on to God’s promises for me!
There has been a lot of things happen in my life. I graduated high school, and I have my Associates in Arts at ECTC, our local community college. I start my journey to obtain my Bachelors in Elementary Education this year, and I am pretty excited. In less than 2 years, I will be teaching in my own classroom…..crazyyyy!!
I know this is kind of all of a sudden, but I have been wanting to get back to blogging. I think about how many people have been encouraged by my testimony, and there was just something about it being 5 years since my life changed completely that made me sit down to write. I can’t promise to have one posted weekly, but I will try my best to keep it pretty updated :).
Over these past five years, the one thing that has been the most challenging is having patience. As Christians, patience is one of the fruits that the Holy Spirit produces in our lives according to Galatians 5:22. Especially in these days, we need to be working and walking in the fruits of the spirit. Patience is one of the fruits that I struggle with, but one I am working on every day to have more of. It is very challenging, but I know with God, ALL things are possible.
You know, this makes me think of some christians who want what God has for them in their life, but when they see God’s specific plan in order to get there, they walk away from it. They don’t have the patience or endurance that it takes to do and fulfill the purpose in their life that God has given them. And I AM GUILTY!
If I am going to be honest with you, after the accident, I did not think I was going to hit 5 years without vision in my right eye. I really was hoping that by now, i would be blogging about the miracle in my life. But I’m learning. I am growing. My faith is being strengthens and I believe patience will have a perfect work in me. God works on His time and not mine.
Romans 12:12 talks about having patience during times of trouble and how we should keep on praying. God wants us to trust Him because His promises are true. We just have to be patient. I heard a sermon from Pastor Mike Todd recently, and he said, “you will never see the promise because there are some promises where the only payment is patience”.
That really stuck with me because there are places and things God wants us to get to, but we just need to wait and trust in Him and be assured that it will all work out in the end. I leave you with this verse today. May it strengthen you to keep trusting in the Lord and believing in His promises!
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”
Romans 5:3-5 NLT
