A tragedy happened yesterday in one of our county’s high schools. A young teenage boy lost both his parents in one day. I couldn’t even imagine what he is going through at this very moment, realizing they are not coming back. Last night in youth class, we sung a song about God’s love. No matter where we go, it will always be there. No matter what comes our way, it will always be there. We cannot hide or run anywhere that God won’t be there before us. His love, His joy, His peace, and His presence will find us in our darkest hour. My youth leader, Stacy, had it on her heart to dedicate our service last night to pray for this young man. Not just say a prayer—but go to war in prayer for his life, his future, and his peace. She brought up the tragic experience in my life to the youth. She said that in that moment of my darkest hour, I had something to cling to. I had faith in my God that everything would be okay. I had people to remind me of my purpose and destiny. I had hope in the miracle-working God who desires to work out all things for my good. But what about others? What do they have to cling to? We all go through our own tragedies. What this young man is experiencing is far worse than the accident in my life. Yet, that was my tragedy. That was my defining moment. Many of you have been in a dark place. Maybe your tragedy is rejection from someone. Maybe your tragedy is your parents divorcing. Maybe it’s not getting the job you wanted or things didn’t work out like you thought. No matter what your situation is, don’t ever think that you don’t have anyone to go to. God will always be there. Some people run to drugs or alcohol. Some think that even suicide is the answer, but it’s not! As dark as this time can be in your life, know that God is with you. He is waiting for you to reach back to Him. He doesn’t cause bad things to happen to us. He is our answer when troubled times come our way. If you are the one dealing with something—a tragedy, a heartache, a rejection or pain—I encourage you to reach out to God. Call upon Jesus. Plug yourself into a youth ministry or church who can strengthen and encourage you. This could be the defining moment in your life to change the course of your destiny. Cling to God. He will help you through it. His love never fails! And if that’s not you, you are on the other side of the table. You are the one to love others and share your faith. Share the hope that you found in Christ. We are world changers, and we live everyday to be the change this world needs. Declare this over your life today: I am here on purpose. My life is not my own. God, I am yours. My destiny is secure. I know who I am because the greater one lives in me. I listen to my spirit and not my flesh. I choose life not death. I choose your Word, not the world. God, you are with. You are for me. Your love will never fail me. I made a UTURN and I will never turn away from you again. I am a world changer and I live everyday to be the change the world needs. In the name of my Savior, my Healer, my Deliverer. The name above every name...JESUS
