"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." — Genesis 50:20

Many people are probably wondering why I devoloped a blog about a terrible accident that rocked my world. But in my eyes, it's a way God can use me to share His story! On August 15, my brother, my cousin--Noah, and myself were driving home from school. We were excited about the first soccer game of the season. Noah and I are managers and my brother, Micah, plays.

When we left the school, it was a normal Monday. We were heading to the church to stop by and see my parents before going home to get ready. Little did we know what was going to happen. As we traveled down Logsdon Parkway, crossing over Lincoln Trail, a truck accidentally pulled out right in front of us, not seeing us from a bus that was blocking the view. Before Micah had time to react, we hit the truck head on.

Immediately, I blacked out for a moment. As soon as I realized what happened, I noticed smoke. I jumped out of the car and grabbed my face. I immediately, I thought I broke my nose. I was bleeding so bad that I couldn't see. I started freaking out and just sat on the ground. My brother grabbed a shirt from his bookbag to clean the blood from my face.

It was crazy how God works. The first person that came and sat with me to calm me down was a previous softball coach I had as a young girl--Coach C. I remember asking over and over if it was bad, as I kept bleeding really bad, and she just kept telling me that it was going to be ok.

While Coach C was with me, I remember my cousin, Noah, freaking out. He was crying and screaming and I really don't know what to call it! Lol... (But I know he was like that because he was so concerned for me.) I asked my brother if he had called my dad, and of course he hadn't. So I told him to call him. It seemed like my dad was there in less than a minute. Then one by one my family members started showing up: first Noah's parents, Jason and Consuelo, and then my Nana. The ambulance showed up and had me lay on the stretcher.

At this point, I still didn't realize what was really hurting. I was wondering if it was my eye, or my nose, or my head. I knew it may be a little serious because they decided they were going to take me to Kosair Children's Hospital. I was so upset because they wanted to put an IV in my arm, and I hate needles. My dad kept telling me that I had to get one. He told me I was just like my mom!

My nana rode with me to the hospital. It seemed like the longest ride ever. I remember just laying there and praying. I didn't know what else to do, but I knew I could pray and trust God that He was going to take care of me.

When I got to the hospital, there were so many doctors around me. The only thing that hurt at this point was my left arm. I was really frustrated when I saw them take out the scissors and cut my jeans off! Those were my favorite american eagle jeans! But I guess it's just material things.

After several doctors looked at me and xrays, cat scan, and ultra sounds, it was determined that I would need emergency surgery on my right eye. I didn't understand the reasoning of it, but I was beginning to understand that it was a little more serious than a cut. As they prepped me for surgery, I remember throwing up blood. I guess I had swallowed a lot of blood when the accident happened. I just remember how much I wanted to see everyone. I even facetimed some of my closest friends and family. My mamaw, my sister-in-law Sydnie, my mom, and nana were with me. Then my Uncle Felix and Aunt Stacy came, along with Noah's parents, Jason and Consuelo. They were able to see me just in time for me to leave for surgery.

Of course during the surgery, I had no idea what was going on. They said it took almost 3 1/2 hours. Along with all those who came up to see me before the surgery, my Uncle Chris, Aunt Lisa, and Mr. Keith Smith stayed while I was in surgery. My mom told me that while I was in surgery, so many people were texting my phone, facebooking my family, and calling to see how I was. There were so many people all over the country praying for me.

For the next 15 hours in the hospital, I was in and out of it. My father stayed the night with me. All day Tuesday, I was in and out of it. A lot of texts continued to come through telling me that everyone was praying for me. I was amazed that so many people reached out to us. I even heard that an amazing woman of God, named Dodie Osteen was praying for me. I don't know her personally, but I know she is an awesome woman with a powerful testimony of how God cured her of cancer!

There is still a lot more to my story. I have a lot on my heart still to share. But for now, I wanted to let everyone know how God was with me the whole time. He protected us from losing our lives in what could have been a deadly accident. He sent angels to take care of me until my family came. He provided the best care at Kosair Children's Hospital. And He gave me so many friends and family who have shown so much love and support. I have the best family and friends that a girl could have. I know that if it wasn't for them, my faith wouldn't be as strong as it is today. For now, continue to pray that my eye will return to 20/20 vision! I believe that God can and still does miracles in people's lives. Thank you for all your love and support!
